Humble and Obedient
The cello starts in a minor key.
a half step above a flat b.
Too slow, it seems to me,
for the wings of a bee.
But, that is a metaphor
for a speed we cant ignore.
A bee unable to fly
will get slower and then die.
Poems, on the other hand,
will speed up upon demand.
until it becomes allegro.
as fast as poems can grow.
A muse tells it what to say.
The Poem has to obey.

¿Is God a Dictator?
¿Does the Great Spirit dictate
to, or dominate our minds?
Are we all mirrors of Gods?
God is, by definition,
intelligence magnified,
or spirit magically benign.
We, who are saved by grace,
are unable to appreciate
the enormity of time and space.
¿Is conscience the voice of God;
or tears of an unremembered soul?
Remember, we are not alone.
The Great Spirit has a cell phone..
It can find us anywhere
and it knows we are there.
We know it wants to dictate
something inappropriate.

¿The Question is Why Not?
The poet or essayist tends to find that
he is complete by attaching himself
to something larger than himself. However, this may place him
in the center of the cosmos which
contains many universes.
Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson
were transcendentalists. This simply
means that they had transcended
the universe or society in which they
lived. ¿Don’t we all find ourselves living
within the restraints of a moral code
which is beyond the reach of most
of our society? This is our holy grail
which seeks to turn ideas into ideals.
We are constantly evolving into
who we think we are; idealists in a
less than ideal universe. We are not
misfits in this society so much as
heretics in a misfit world.
Our spiritual lives are lived in an
eternity. Our short physical lives come
to an early end. The dragons we slay
on the road to paradise are evil ideas
incapable of becoming the way home.
Home is where they have to take you
in when there is nowhere else to go.

Death on the Highway
¿When six-day work week is five,
is Saturday still alive?
If Monday is a holiday,
we will have more time to play.
Life might seem to be more fun,
if even less work was done?
On Saturday more people die.
Travel accident is why.
If our work-week was just three,
we would live dangerously.
I’m willing to take a chance
so i’m driving to the dance;
instead of driving to work
where more accidents may lurk.

Spirits vs Physical
?Is reality the truth
like a hole in a front tooth?
Our spirituality
can live an eternity.
Most of us will realize
only the physical dies.
Spirits will live forever.
?Does that make spirits clever?
That is just the way things are.
The Sun is like a dark star.
The sun isn’t always bright.
It turns itself off at night.
An idea can be ideal.
?Does that mean it is real?

The Theory of God’s Existence
The Big Bang theory of why we are
here, has less advocates than it did
ten years ago. Surveys among current
intellectuals indicate that this theory
is thought of as a faith, not a discovery.
Saying this does not make it so.
President Dewey proved that faith may
be invalid. Compared to the Hebrew
Genesis, there is less evidence to
support the existence of God.
What we mean by a supposed
existence is loss of an ability to believe
or accept. Black holes have attained
the distinction of discoveries rather
than mere supposition.
There is no establishment with the
authority to discuss or proclaim the
results of this slide from discovery to
faith. ?Is there a higher intelligence
and/or spirit with benevolent intent
which constantly rescues us from our
chaos. There is no doubt that the vast
majority of us are seeking an answer.
?Is it faith or discovery we hope to find.

Measure Speed of Light
?How can i measure the mass
while waiting for time to pass.
Nothing is faster than light.
?Did Einstein get that one right
But, if light goes the wrong way,
physics is a game we play.
Only a philosopher
allows magic to occur.
Only imagination
can exceed perspiration.
Particles do not return
as fast as they leave at Cern.
?So, How can a square root be
faster than eternity.

I Don’t Remember
I lost a big memory
somewhere in eternity.
It is easy to forgive
memory loss where i live.
Most of us are fairly old;
so memory is like gold.
Once it’s lost, it’s gone.
with nothing to blame it on.
How big was it? I forget.
I can’t remember that yet.
I think i know who you are.
so you can’t be very far.
Down in the Alzheimer's wing
they can’t remember anything.

Ultimately Unsatisfied
After my body has died
my conscience will try to hide.
If i can’t find my own id,
it is successfully hid.
Do i really want to know
where my id wanted to go?
Sometimes i think that i do;
wherever i will be with you.
When our souls are together
life will go on forever.
That is the meaning of love;
a push instead of a shove.
If you have love, you will learn
Love is something you must earn.

Smells Like Apple Cider
This day i sat beside her;
also a friendly spider;
The shade was even wider.
Except at meridian
because then it never can.
The sun always seemed to be
shining directly on me.
She was always named Alice;
but not because of malice.
Rotten apples fell on me
from a dying apple tree.
Trees keep dying all the time
just to make the verses rhyme.

What is going to Happen to me.
Whenever we get together
we will talk about the weather.
Or about deterioration.
That is our conversation.
Our age is likely to be
based on our philosophy.
The things which we do find out
can be trivial, no doubt.
We may lose our memory;
so what, and fiddle dee dee.
Whatever we do forget,
we can still remember yet.
We may find out tomorrow
to our eternal sorrow.

Do Squirrels Also Consume
buds before they are in bloom?
Not also, but maybe not;
they do eat blossoms a lot.
Wherever a flower grows,
the smell can go up its nose.
The smell also affects me.
and also attracts a bee.
Whether a bee or a rose,
it can go where the odor goes.
I don’t know what a bee thinks,
It might be an odor which stinks.
If it is on their diet,
squirrels don’t have to buy it.

DoesThursday Have Smell?
Often it is hard to tell
there is a dead rat in the well.
Perhaps it is only me
and i am only sweaty.
I can recognize colors;
black and white amongst others.
But, those are different things
having different songs it sings.
Some days are short, others long.
So, where does Thursday belong?
Nobody has mentioned sound;
but there is lots of it around.
Some features could be erased
including their touch and taste.
